Ellen DeGeneres Will Not Co-Host 'Idol Gives Back'

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Access Hollywood has learned that Ellen DeGeneres will not be co-hosting the "American Idol" charity event, "Idol Gives Back," this year.

An inside source tells Access the talk show host is backing out of the charity event due to an unforeseen production schedule that conflicts with her show. The show was scheduled to tape this coming Sunday, April 6th.

"Idol Gives Back" will include an impressive roster of talent including U2's Bono, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey, Eli and Peyton Manning, Fergie, Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Annie Lennox, John Legend, Snoop Dogg, Maroon 5, Heart, Gloria Estefan, Celine Dion, Robin Williams, and "High School Musical" stars Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens.

This year, monies raised will go to the Children's Defense Fund, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Make It Right, Malaria No More, Save The Children, and the Children's Health Fund.

No word on a replacement host to join Ryan Seacrest for the charity special, set to air April 9 on Fox.

    I for one am very glad Ellen is not going on Idol. She is so overplayed to the point of boring. Why can't they get some fresh new celebs and quit using the same old ones they have had around for 20 some years. She is so predictable now we all know whay she will say and do.....give me a break and get someone new for once.

    Who Cares!!! We have more important things to worry about like the economy-raising money for the people in the US! People are homeless, starving, and our children need better schools/teachers! Where are your priorities people. If you were the ones starving or homeless you would stand up for america! OUR CHILDREN

    I think the idea of this story was not to discriminate against Ellen because she is a homosexual but to inform us of her busy schedule. Why does everyone emphasize the fact she is gay. I am straight, and I do not care what people do behind their closed doors. I would be afraid of what goes on behind some heterosexual doors before a homosexuals! Freaky people out there! Cant we all just get along!
