Elisabeth Hasselbeck: "Today Is a Victory for Our Country"

Although she fiercely supported John McCain, Elisabeth Hasselbeck isn't outraged that Democrat Barack Obama has been elected president.

On Wednesday's The View, she recalled how her daughter Grace asked who lost the election.

"No one lost today - and God knows I fought hard on the other side," Hasselbeck said. "Today is a victory for this country. The first black president. The first black first lady. The first black family. I haven't felt this good..."

Look back at the all the presidents' wives through the years.

Added Joy Behar (who famously clashed
with Hasselbeck during the election): "Are you saying I was right all along?"

Smiling, Hasselbeck and Behar then did a fist bump.

See the most unforgettable moments from this year's election.

Sherri Shepherd couldn't keep her composure as she explained how it felt for there to be "no limitations" for people of color.

Barbara Walters asked Shepherd, "So why were you undecided to the last minute?"

"She (Sarah Palin) spoke to me," said Shepherd, "but this spoke to me more."

So many ppl are just jealous of Elis b/c she is classy, beautiful and smart and the ONLY voice of reason and sanity on that show. Her opinion is different than the liberal damo-crats, and they cant stand anyone w/a shred of morals. How sad for them. We need more ppl like Elis, and less of the loud mouth anti-americans like Rosie and Joy.

Elisabeth is just the type of brainless woman McCain was pandering to when he trotted out Sarah Palin. She just drinks the Kool-Aid and believes what they tell her. She's just on the show to show how stupid and gullible most "conservative" women are. I've never heard her justify an argument that didn't come straight outta FOX's playbook and talking

Elisabeth is completely out of line and is extremely immature. She needs to learn to listen more before she opens her mouth. Unfortunately that won't change. I could not believe how rude she was to Joy today. I believe its time for her to move on. Thank God they have Whoopi to keep some kinda of order when Barbara is AWOL.

How phoney can one person be. I told everybody the day before the election that I bet anything that if Barack O bama got elected tha t Elizabeth would change her whole tune about the way she acted before. I was right how phoney. At least Joy said that she liked Mccain as the person he was before he started to talk bad like he did and make up all the stories. Elizabeth NEVER said one nice thing .

When is Sherry going to realize that the election wasn't about what a "great day for african americans" when Barack was elected president. 2 times this week on "the view" when there were african american guests they corrected her that it wasn't about african americans it was a "great day" for the United States and "All

I am a supporter of Mr. Obama as well, and though I understand how upsetting it may be for Republicans, but Elizabeth showed how much class she has with her remarks on the "View". Kuddos!

I am a registered republican, I watch the View, and I voted for Mr. Obama. Mrs. Hasselback does not represent the type of thought provoking republican I am. Her theory that John McCain had any qualities he possessed 8 years ago, when he was truly a "maverick" was absurd. She was a polarizing figure in this election, just as the republican party was. I just hope my party&#
