When you think of the Oscars, what do you remember most? Is it the winner's speech, the various stage acts, the beautiful fashions, or the dates that Hollywood's famous bring to the most prestigious award show of the year?
The 84th Academy Awards will be held on February 26, 2012, and we always find Tinsel Town's couples to be one of the most fascinating and memorable parts of the show. From their walk down the red carpet, to their time seated together and sometimes exchanging knowing glances to their trip up to the stage, our eyes our glued.
Who are the most memorable sweethearts of Oscar's past? Here is a look at ten of our favorites.
Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall in 1952
What could be sexier than actor Humphrey Bogart and wife Lauren Bacall arriving to the Oscars in 1952? The couple met on the set of "To Have and Have Not" in 1944 when the actress was just 19 years old. They married the following year. In 1952, the "Casablanca" star walked the red carpet with Bacall at his side, and took home the only Oscar he would receive in his career for "Best Actor" in the 1951 film, "African Queen."
Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward in 1958
One of the longest lasting marriages in Hollywood belonged to this couple. Paul Newman married the love of his life, Joanne Woodward, in Las Vegas in 1958. The newlyweds were together on Oscar night that year. It's unlikely that many could have predicted they would celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in 2008, the same year the beloved actor passed away.
Sonny and Cher Bono in 1968
The 40th Academy Awards took place on April 10, 1968, and Sonny and Cher Bono walked the red carpet together. The iconic celeb wore her hair in braids, and was just 21 years old. Who would have thought that over four decades later the "Gypsy, Tramps & Thieves" singer would still be going strong?
Jack Nicholson and Angelica Huston in 1975
Jack Nicholson and girlfriend actress Angelica Huston attended the Oscars together in 1975, sitting next to the famed Fred Astaire. The actor was nominated for his role in "Chinatown," and the couple continued to have an on-again, off-again relationship for nearly two decades.
Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere in 1991
Actor Richard Gere was one of the presenters at the 63rd Academy Awards in 1991. He was seen on the red carpet with beautiful supermodel Cindy Crawford who wore a stunning low-cut red gown. The couple married in December of that year, but divorced four years later.
Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones in 2004
One of Hollywood's most popular power couples, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones looked amazing on the red carpet in 2004. The pair married in 2000 and have two children together.
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith in 2007
Will Smith and his gorgeous wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, brought their adorable son, Jaden Christopher Syre Smith, with them to the Oscars in 2007. They're another long-lasting couple, married back on December 31, 1997, and we hope they stay together despite rumors of trouble in paradise.
Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis in 2008
One of the most popular actors in Hollywood, Johnny Depp, and french actress Vanessa Paradis, walked the red carpet together in 2008. Sadly, this couple is unlikely to be together for this year's show.
It was recently reported that due to the breakup rumors surrounding the pair, he may turn down the opportunity to present an award to avoid further drama. He's one star that will definitely be missed.
