Denise Richards tells Usmagazine.com she wasn't expecting to be given the boot on Tuesday's
Dancing With the Stars.
Due to their low scores Monday, Richards and
Holly Madison ended up in the bottom two and were forced to take part in the new
DWTS elimination format, the dance-off. (Viewer votes are what kept low-scoring Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and his partner,
Karina Smirnoff , on the show.)

"I really didn't think I was going," Richards said on ABC's
Jimmy Kimmel Live! "I wished I lasted longer."

"The audience response was so gracious and so great," she told Us. "Everyone was very, very supportive. I'm just so happy for everyone else who gets to continue, and who would've thought that Steve and Karina would be in? I'm so happy for them. He loves the show and is having fun."
Now that Richards is off the show, her partner Makism Chmerkovskiy, who is engaged to Smirnoff, has a message for fans.
"Vote Steve and Karina!" he told Us.

What will she do differently?
"Not party again like I did last week!" she joked to Us. "We're just going to work really hard and work on my footwork and technique. Hopefully the tango's easier than the samba!"
