Helio Castroneves was acquitted of tax evasion in April, federal prosecutors dropped the one remaining conspiracy charge against him, the Associated Press reports.
Look back on other celebrity scandals from last year.On Friday, Castroneves was cleared of all the charged that once threatened his career.
The Brazilian race car driver -- he has twice won the Indianapolis 500 and was the 2007 winner of DWTS -- was indicted in October for failing to pay more than $2.3 million to the IRS over a five-year period starting in 1999.
See photos of today's top news stories.Also cleared of the charges was his sister and business manager, Katiucia Castroneves. His Michigan lawyer, Alan Miller, was acquitted on the conspiracy count and three counts of tax evasion in April. They had all faced up to six years in prison if convicted.
Castroneves resumed racing immediately after the court case ended in April, and he finishing seventh place in Long Beach, Calif., and second at a race in Kansas. Now he's a favorite at the Indianapolis 500.
"This is part of me," he said. "This is where I belong."
