The-Dream: Rihanna's Chris Brown Remix Was Her Idea

The-Dream: Rihanna's Chris Brown Remix Was Her Idea

    What were they thinking, anyway?

Rihanna fans were shocked on Monday when the superstar, 24, released a sexually explicit remix of her song "Birthday Cake," featuring her notorious ex-boyfriend Chris Brown; Brown himself released a raunchy remix of his "Turn Up the Music" featuring Rihanna.

The collaboration comes three years afer Brown's Grammys-eve assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna; as Us Weekly has reported, the twosome have been secretly hooking up for a year.

According to hip-hop producer The-Dream, who worked on the "Birthday Cake" remix, the musical reunion was "Rih's idea," he told Billboard.com.

"Not only do we work together, but [Rihanna] is a friend of mine. And it's like, 'You wanna do something? Then cool, let's do it.' I don't know how she got the logistics and how it happened -- maybe she'll talk about it one day," The-Dream (real name: Terius Nash) explained. "I showed up at the studio, and it was like, 'All right, cool, let's finish this record,' which we probably should have finished the first time we did it."

The-Dream didn't see any problem with the Rihanna-Brown rematch. "For me, it's just music -- two talented people doing a record together, doing two records together, and that's what it was," he claimed. "It wasn't about an incident that happened. The true thing really is to forgive, and… you want to believe in people."

He suggested that the songs reflect Rihanna's "power to forgive" her violent ex.

"This is about her," he said of Rihanna. "If she can forgive, that's where she is mentally. As a friend, it's like, 'Okay, cool. Let's roll.'"

They're both human beings, and there is a such thing as forgiveness, so I like both of them as artists, and if they're still in love, then so be it. Chris is crazy, but Rihanna is just as crazy as he is, so let them do what makes them happy, being crazy together!

You can fool some people some of the time but you can't fool all the people all the time. Good luck to the both of them, they're going to need it.

She knows that she attacked that man first. She saw those texts and tried to gouge his eyes out or scratch up his money maker! And he defended himself with a couple of left hooks to her cranium! Rhianna was not innocent in the matter.

i agree because they are human being and if they want to record a song to together they should be able to record a song without people saying what of chris does this or this and that happened.

Of course it was her idea - because she can change him. His slapping around was a one time event - he would never do that again. I don't get it - never will.

She's doing this to keep her name in the media. Cheap publicity stunt! I guess the restraining order has expired...

does anyone ever blame rihanna for that "beating"? It takes 2 people and for her to have bite marks on her hands, suggests that she wouldn't stop beating on him. Everyone makes it look like the guy is at fault but what about her? She is a crazy barbados women who culturally are into beating men up. they are both at fault...but seriously cut the guy a break and look at rihanna...she is soooo trashy and with her blonde hair...she looks like a man

First thing we are not Barbados women but we are Barbadians or Bajans, the writer of this comment is out of touch with reality, what do know of us BARDBADIAN WOMEN, culturally we are strong, independent, very educated [education is free in Barbados paid for by the Government of Barbados], with diverse careers. Domestic violence is frown upon. Please check your facts before you make a comment. Rihanna decision to collaborate with Chris is her's she is not a child. If we all men beaters, believe me our prison couldn't hold us.

Rihanna was educated at one of the top secondary schools [high schools] in Barbados. The Combermere school has a strong fand proud faternity/alumni.

Are you saying she deserved to be beaten? You like Chris Brown so be it, do not say any women deserves to be beaten. I use to beat up a lot of girls I went to Middle School and High School with, Then I was also in a abusive relationship later on. There's a difference. Bite marks on her hands, she could have me trying to push him off of her, away from her. Men don't change, he was bound to do something again, which he did. I hope he gets locked up, but he has money, so he gets special treatment.
