Dolly Parton understands how hard it is to maintain a healthy weight.

9 to 5: The Musical in NYC Thursday. "It's a bitch any way you look at it. You either starve or you get fat."
Find out how your favorite stars get fit.Parton, 63, admitted that she doesn't exercise much -- aside from "a tiny little bit of squats and sit-ups" -- but is still conscious of the scale.
"I'm very short, so I just have to watch my weight because I have a big appetite," she told Us.
She added that instead of dieting, it's all in how you dress.

Parton -- who came to
Jessica Simpson 's defense when her weight was scrutinized earlier this year -- was also disappointed that the 28-year-old singer was dropped from her country label, Sony Nashville this month.
