After battling his own drug addictions and surviving a tragic plane crash, DJ AM is ready to give back in a new intervention-style reality show.

The celebrity DJ (whose real name is Adam Goldstein) is teaming up with MTV to launch the tentatively titled Gone Too Far, a series that will chronicle tough-love interventions for young people whose lives have become unmanageable because of chemical dependence. DJ AM will be present throughout the intervention process, which will be led by an addiction specialist.

MTV is set to announce the program -- which does not yet have an airdate -- next week in NYC during its upfront presentation to advertisers.

Last year, he revealed that he was abused by his father, became addicted to drugs and had attempted suicide. He said he attended recovery meetings and has been sober for about a decade.

In September, he was critically injured after a Learjet caught fire during an aborted takeoff in South Carolina. After surviving the accident that left four others dead, the star -- who survived along with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker -- said he was "the luckiest guy alive."
