DJ AM's close pals came together at Avalon in Hollywood Tuesday night to raise money for the families affected by his
Sept. 19 plane crash that killed four.
Hilary Duff, DJ
Mark Ronson,
Macy Gray and
Simon Rex were among the revelers at the five-hour bash, named "Welcome Home,
DJ AM."
"I've met [
DJ AM] a few times, and he's a great guy," Duff told Usmagazine.com. "It's a tragic thing that happened, and any way that I can help and support there - I'm here to do it."
Although
Travis Barker is still hospitalized for second and third degree burns following the crash,
DJ AM made sure he was there in spirit.
Several times throughout the night, AM asked the audience to "say a prayer for my man, Travis."
(The Blink 182 drummer, meanwhile, told Us, "I'm just
thankful to be alive.")
AM (real name: Adam Goldstein) was also still showing effects from the crash. He fashioned a mohawk into his hair, which was partially shaved due to his injuries, an eyewitness said.
AM's friends continued to praise how lucky their pal was to survive the tragic wreck.
"He's doing great," Rex (who sometimes goes by the name Dirt Nasty) told Us. "It's amazing he's fine. It's just a miracle I guess. It's just inspirational that the can survive something like that and then keep the party going for their fans."
Added Ronson: "AM and Travis have both spoken in very hopeful and positive ways since the crash.
"AM has been a really good friend for maybe 12 years now," he continued. "He's just one of those people - even though he is so busy - that I would never doubt for a second that if something happened, like if I was stuck in a police station or something, that he would be there.
"He's always there for the people he cares about," Ronson said. "He wouldn't think twice about putting himself out or on the line for any of his friends."
