The allegations that Lindsay Lohan really knew she had a half-sister when she pretended to be surprised in a "Good Morning America" interview Friday may be a distraction from a much larger issue. The fact that her father acknowledged a DNA test proved his paternity of 17-year-old Ashley Horn on a TV talk show last week is yet another case of the "Mean Girls" actress coping with her dad's disturbing behavior.
Lohan's improvised acting bit occurred when GMA's Amy Robach said to the "Liz and Dick" star, "You allegedly have a new half-sister." Lohan coolly replied, "I didn't even hear that, so thanks for the news." An insider reportedly outed the actress, claiming the troubled celebrity has Internet search alerts on all of her family members and had to know about the recently publicized DNA test results. "Lindsay found out long before that she has a half-sister. Lindsay is embarrassed by it and doesn't have a desire to meet her sibling," the source alleged.
The Maury Povich-like baby daddy reveal on television may have been too humiliating for even a scandal magnet like Lohan to accept. Not only was her long-lost sister no longer a baby, her father had denied paternity of her for years and refused to pay child support. Worse, the Long Island native's new little sister not only snubbed her bio-dad after he tried to hug her on the tabloid TV talk show, she implied Lindsay may be a loser as well. "I don't want to be part of the Lohan train wreck," she told the show's host Trisha Goddard.
Aside from being upstaged by her dad a week before the premiere of her mega-hyped Lifetime movie about Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, Lohan may be upset that her half-sister was conceived while her father was still married to her mother, Dina Lohan -- although the couple was separated at the time.
To make things worse, last month the father-and-daughter duo became estranged for the umpteenth time when the 26-year-old actress found out her dad had sold an audio tape to TMZ of her confiding to him by phone that Dina was using cocaine and acting weird.
The "Just My Luck" star may have also been miffed that Michael tried to stage an intervention last month because he thought she was reverting back to her drug and alcohol habits. The man who has appeared in a televised rehab show for his anger issues wrote in an email to Lindsay's lawyers that she was "drinking between a bottle and a bottle and a half of vodka per day" and that he had seen "empty bottles and even cocaine in her room at Chateau."
With all the mayhem he has caused for his older daughter Lindsay, we wouldn't be surprised if Michael Lohan's newly claimed daughter is counting her lucky stars that her father was MIA throughout her entire childhood.
