The ladies of Wisteria Lane don't look to be moving out anytime
soon.
Desperate Housewives creator, Marc Cherry, announced
his plan to extend the prime-time show's run to a total of nine
seasons, up from his original plan to end the series with seven
full seasons.
According to
TV Guide, Cherry made the announcement
on Wednesday at a cake-cutting ceremony for the show's 100th
episode.
Cherry's desire for those two extra seasons isn't set in stone,
said a studio source. Lots of paperwork and a formal pick-up by ABC
are necessary before any new plans for
Desperate Housewives
-- now in the middle of its fifth season -- can move forward.

This news comes nearly two years after Cherry signed a four-year
deal with ABC and revealed his plan to wrap up the suburban hijinks
in 2011.
"At the end of my deal, and after seven seasons, it will be a good
time to call it quits," Cherry said. "I don't want anyone else to
run the show, and I don't want us to fade away."

Another source told
TV Guide that
Marcia Cross, Teri
Hatcher,
Felicity Huffman and
Eva Longoria are on board. No mention
was made of
Nicollette Sheridan's stance.
This new deal -- if it goes through -- would keep the show on the
air until 2013, for more than four more years.
