Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher have finally called it quits. For months the marriage of the May-November couple has been the topic of speculation. Now it is official. Our favorite twitter couple @APlusK and @MrsKutcher are no more.
In this world of flash marriages Demi and Ashton certainly gave it the college try. The acting couple married in 2005. The two were social media and Kabbalah aficionados together and genuinely seemed to support each other's work. This year has seen the end of other Hollywood mega-couples such as Jennifer Lopez and Mark Anthony in addition to political couples like Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The dynamic duo seemed to have what it takes for long-term marriage success. Demi is 49 and was previously married to 80s action star Bruce Willis for thirteen years. Ashton is 33 and currently starring in Charlie Sheen's old gig, "Two And A Half Men." Infidelity rumors plagued the embattled couple.
Demi's Official Statement
Demi's sad missive seems to indicate that some of the rumors about her soon to be ex-husband might have been true. She says, "It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton." The "Charlie's Angels" star goes on to say, "As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life. This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation,"
Ashton's Twitter Announcement
Ashton has taken his remorse over the end of his relationship to twitter and the new social network Chime In. He posted, "I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK." It makes sense that he would bring his announcement to Twitter as the couple frequently tweeted photos together and the like.
There is no indication of whether or when Moore will alter her Kutcher-related twitter handle. Ashton handed over control of his Twitter account to handlers recently when he mis-tweeted about the current Penn State scandal. Demi's last tweet was eleven hours ago and she gave no indication of the breakup announcement.
The end of a marriage is always sad and we wish them both the best.
Do you think that Ashton cheated on Demi? Is she making a mistake by leaving him? Will "Two and a Half Men" be a success?
