The
Rules of Engagement star is teaming up with
Operation Helmet to provide 3,000 blast and impact-protecting helmet pads to U.S. combat troops.
See photos of Hollywood's most generous celebrities.Spade donated more than $100,000 to provide the funds necessary for the helmet upgrades being issued to soldiers. According to Dr. Bob Meaders, the founder and president of Operation Helmet, the current military-grade helmet pads caused pain, discomfort and headaches. The new ones, however, drastically cut down the amount of brain injuries from bombs, blast waves and vehicle accidents.
Check out today's top celeb news photos.Operation Helmet released a statement to Usmagazine.com that said, "The foundation is gratified that yet another Hollywood notable has put their heart and support into helping bring our troops home safely."
To date, Americans have donated to Operation Helmets provision of 41,000 helmet pad upgrades.
