Hats -- or helmets, rather -- off to David Spade!

The Rules of Engagement star is teaming up with Operation Helmet to provide 3,000 blast and impact-protecting helmet pads to U.S. combat troops.

Spade donated more than $100,000 to provide the funds necessary for the helmet upgrades being issued to soldiers. According to Dr. Bob Meaders, the founder and president of Operation Helmet, the current military-grade helmet pads caused pain, discomfort and headaches. The new ones, however, drastically cut down the amount of brain injuries from bombs, blast waves and vehicle accidents.

Operation Helmet released a statement to Usmagazine.com that said, "The foundation is gratified that yet another Hollywood notable has put their heart and support into helping bring our troops home safely."

To date, Americans have donated to Operation Helmets provision of 41,000 helmet pad upgrades.

Patriotism is a symptom of ignorance, no matter what country you love.

Nice of David Spade to do, but what the hell is the government spending trillions of dollars on over there on? High end technical weapons, but they don't have enough money for helmets? That is crazy that helmets have to be supplemented by the private sector when these young men & women are putting their lives on the line. There is too much of a subcontracting the military for s
