David Copperfield is slamming a lawsuit filed by a 22-year-old Seattle woman who claims the magician sexually assaulted her and threatened to kill her.

The allegations are "extortion for money, plain and simple," state Copperfield's lawyers, Angelo Calfo and Patty Eakes, in a statement.

The woman alleges in court papers filed on July 29 -- the two-year statute of limitations -- that the incident took place while she was a guest on his private island in the Bahamas.

No criminal charges have been filed, according to the Associated Press.

The woman -- who is described as a model and former Miss Washington USA contestant -- says she met Copperfield (real name: David Seth Kotkin) at one of his January 2007 performances.

    I believe he is perv., but I don't believe this young women's story. PS-Saw him live in Vegas a couple of years ago; Don't waste your money. Terrible show!
