It was an emotional night on "Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars" on Monday, when the stars and their partners went way out of their element with dance styles that ranged from the Jitterbug to Bollywood. So who rose to the occasion-and which pro dancer had a hip hop slip that left her cursing?
With a whopping 40 points on the line (guest judge Paula Abdul was on board this week!), here's the rundown of "DWTS" Week 4.
Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas -- Rock n' Roll
Bristol Palin and her partner Mark Ballas didn't want to be the joke this week. That meant no tricks, no gimmicks, and no bunny costumes! Their 1950's style rock and roll dance to the Danny & the Juniors song "At the Hop" garnered Bristol a double high-five from judge Carrie Ann Inaba, and a week's reprieve from being at the absolute bottom of the leaderboard. Score: 32
Sabrina Bryan and Louis Van Amstel -- Disco
You should be dancing! Sabrina Bryan and Louis Van Amstel took us back to Studio 54 circa 1977, with a disco dance to the Bee Gees. Bryan's fuzzy blue coat looked straight out of Cookie Monster's closet, but Louis stripped her down to glittery gold polyester as they boogied across the ballroom. Score: 35.5
Gilles Marini and Peta Murgatroyd -- Bollywood
Welcome to Bollywood! French actor Gilles Marini sizzled with Peta Murgartoyd with a Bollywood dance to "Jai Ho" by A.R. Rahman, nabbing triple tens in the process. (Only stingy judge Len Goodman gave them a 9.5.) Carrie Ann Inaba told Marini, "Aladdin has nothing on you!" Score: 39.5
Apolo Ohno and Karina Smirnoff -- Hip Hop
It was a hip hop slip-up for Apolo Ohno and Karina Smirnoff, when the out-of-their-element duo had a slight mishap midway through their Bel Biv Devoe hip hop dance. Smirnoff's nervousness over dancing old school hip hop was shown in the couple's intro package, where she dropped the F-bomb more than once. She apologized for that, and then tearfully apologized to her Ohno after she slipped while doing a kick above his head. The judges were generous, basing their scoring on the Olympic speed skater's performance only. Score: 34.5
Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy -- Contemporary
And this one was steamy soap opera! Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy gave us Coldplay Contemporary, with an emotionally charged dance that had them stripped down to their skivvies. The couple's connection was undeniable, with Chmerkovskiy saying he doesn't even care about scores this week. "I am very blessed to have met this person," he said of the "General Hospital" star. Score: 37.5
The other scores of the night:
Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough -- Mambo, Score 39.5
Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani -- Jitterbug, Score: 37.5
Kirstie Alley and Maks Chmerkovskiy -- The Charleston, Score: 30
Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke -- Bolero, Score: 36
So who's going home? The "Dancing With the Stars" results show airs Tuesday night at 8/7c on ABC.
