Channing Tatum's male stripper movie "Magic Mike" and the erotic novel "Fifty Shades of Grey" have something big in common - they both aim to please the ladies.
So since the ladies will be drooling over the guys in "Magic Mike," why not choose one of them to play sexy billionaire businessman Christian Grey in the movie based on the erotic novel? The actor who lands the part will still be making women swoon, but it would be a bit of an interesting role reversal - instead of playing a softcore stripper sex slave, he'd get hardcore by turning some poor actress into a submissive sex slave.
Channing would be an obvious choice for the role because of his sexy past as a real male stripper. His former colleagues Thomas "Awesome" Austin and London Steele (no relation to Anastasia Steele) have recently bashed the actor for stealing some of their moves when they should be thanking him for all the publicity he's getting them. But if they've been using the same moves since he was working with them, perhaps it's time for some new material - something inspired by "Fifty Shades of Grey," perhaps?
According to Hollywood.com, Channing is trying to sell "Magic Mike" to men and women alike by comparing it to the erotic novel. He said of its appeal, "I think every straight one of my friends that has seen it, they are like, 'I forgot that it was a stripping movie.' It's the 'Fifty Shades of Grey' Era. Come on guys, let's just go nuts!"
But unfortunately his gorgeous wife Jenna Dewan told "EXTRA" that her hubby can only play Christian Grey if she can play Anastasia Steele, and Channing said of that idea, "That would be really weird. It would just be like turning on the video cameras in our bedroom."
However, when his costar Joe Manganiello was asked about the part, he responded by saying, "Sure, of course I'd be up for it!" Joe obviously doesn't mind showing off his butt cheeks when his werewolf character loses his wardrobe on "True Blood," so he'd certainly have no issue with the spicy sex scenes in "Fifty Shades." And while Matthew McConaughey might be too old to play Christian, he also expressed his thoughts about the erotic novel - the actor believes the success of "Fifty Shades" might help "Magic Mike" sell movie tickets.
Matt Bomer is the right age for the role, and he also looks perfect for the part. He told "Access Hollywood" that he needs to read the book and see who the director ends up being before going after the role, but he says that it sounds "amazing."
Then there's the very pretty Alex Pettyfer, who is a little too young to play Christian. However, there's one high-profile person who thinks that he would be perfect for the part. "American Psycho" author Bret Easton Ellis has made it known that he wants to write the screenplay for "Fifty Shades of Grey," and he's even picked his favorites to star in the film -- Ellis included Alex with Ryan Gosling and Aaron Johnson in the wishlist he tweeted earlier this month. Alex might get to do a little more stripping if "Magic Mike" becomes a Broadway play, so if it takes a while for the "Fifty Shades" movie to go into production, he might be mature enough and comfortable enough with showing skin to play Christian Grey.
There might even be a member of "Magic Mike" who could play Anastasia Steele - Alex's girlfriend Riley Keough. There has been lots of talk about Kristen Stewart being a favorite for the part, but Elvis' stunning granddaughter looks remarkably like K-Stew. This might be why the two actresses that starred in "The Runaways" together often compete for the same movie roles. Riley's recent lesbian werewolf movie "Jack and Diane" sounds pretty steamy, so maybe she'd be able to handle all the "Fifty Shades" sex scenes.
So what do you think - should any of the "Magic Mike" stars get kinky again in "Fifty Shades of Grey?"
