LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Dennis Quaid had a close call Wednesday night after a night out - just as he was about to drive off, police urged the actor not to drive - and he listened.

After attending the premiere of "One Peace At A Time," Dennis, wife Kimberly and a friend left Philippe in West Hollywood, Calif., where he allegedly had too much to drink.

He reportedly responded to the officer, asking, "What do you want me to do?"

The actor, his wife and friend then reportedly went back inside the restaurant and emerged a short time later to a waiting taxicab.

The waiting paparazzi reportedly screamed, "You don't want a DUI. You don't want to end up like Mel Gibson."

I wonder how many times he has been driving drunk? It sounds like a habitual thing and he only opted this time not to drive because he knew he would be arrested if he did not heed the cops advice! Someone with money like he has can hire a driver to take him anywhere without him taking the chance of killing someone's kid while he is behind the wheel drunk. GEE what a caring guy......NOT

I see someone posted about him having "GOOD JUDGEMENT" WTF??? He had climbed in the car intending to drive while intoxicated? He knew he would go to jail if he drove in front of the Cops. They should had arrested the Dolt anyway and charged him! That is like saying someone is using "Good Judgement" not Knocking off a Liquor store because two cops are stand

He was DUI! If he was behind the wheel under the infulence , he HAD the intention of driving. Being behind the wheel of a Motor Vehicle and intoxicated driving or not is the same. Drivers are arrested all the time parked in parking lots and on the side of the Highway drunk behind the wheel. He was given "Special Treatement" by the Police. He should had been arrested!

"Legal Woes" doesn't seem to be a fitting description for the topic of this article. Had someone else who was not a celebrity or other prominent figure done this, they would have "Legal Woes " after being arrested by that police officer, locked up and then had a judge informing them and giving them reason why they shouldn’t be driving while drunk such
