Comedian Stephen Colbert to Release a Children's Book -- 3 Other Comedians Who Should Write One Too!

Stephen Colbert canceled tapings twice last week to tend to his ailing mother.

On his show on Comedy Central, Stephen Colbert delivers his perspectives on politics and the news outlets that cover them four nights a week. "The Colbert Report" is a parody of the types of shows one sees on CNN, Fox News and CNBC, with Colbert playing the super-conservative talking head role, dispensing commentary on the events of the day, with that commentary usually being cleverly disguised satire.

He's already published a book that was a New York Times Bestseller, but that was aimed at his core audience. Now Colbert is set to release a new book which he teased and introduced during a segment with renowned children's author Maurice Sendak on his show a couple of weeks ago. The story is called "I Am a Pole (And So Can You!)." Okay, so obviously from the title the book may have just as much for parents as the children they read the book to. Colbert himself said of the book, "are as fulfilling as the minutes I spent writing it."

We thought one of these other funny people should consider penning a children's book. Whether or not they aim it at adults, kids or both, we'll leave it up to them.

Conan O'Brien - Coco's shows have always had an air of fun, frivolity and unpredictability that would probably play really well in a toned-down children's novel. Perhaps he could write a tale about a ginger-haired lad who, despite the odds and in the face of adversity leaves his long time home to enter a whole world, and he finds true happiness and success there? Something tells us he'd really identify with that story line.

Tina Fey - Fey has shown that she is one of the sharpest comedic minds of her generation. She's also got two daughters and has already said that she uses them as inspiration for dialogue on "30 Rock." She also just wrote a bestselling book last year called "Bossypants" so she's already got the necessary contacts within the publishing business. We'd love to see Tina write a hilarious story about a girl dominating in an area mostly regarded as "boys" territory.

Louis C.K. - Maybe it's a morbid curiosity that makes us desire for C.K., who is one of the biggest names in comedy right now, to write a book for kids. His material in both his stand-up act and for his FX show "Louie" never shies away from adult context and content, so it could be a big challenge for him to aim a story at a more innocent crowd. Then again, he too has two daughters so he's obviously got to know quite a bit about how to speak and address kids. We dare not suggest any story lines for Louis, he's best left to his own devices!
