Kurt Wimmer ("Salt," "Street Kings," "Sphere") has been tapped to write the remake.

The new version of the film will be a contemporary adaptation of the sci-fi saga, based on Phillip K. Dick's "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale."

Set in the year 2084, the original "Total Recall" starred Schwarzenegger as Quaid - a man who goes to Mars via a memory transplant and discovers he may have more than one identity.

I thought the original movie was as good as it needed to be. Why mess with it? Plus, there is no one out there that can give a new version the completeness that Arnold did. Some movies like Blade Runner, The Fifth Element, and Total Recall should be left alone to stand alone.

The movie was great when it came out; I still watch it sometimes when it comes on television. But the lesson these writers need to learn is that when a good movie comes out, LEAVE IT ALONE, AND COME UP WITH YOUR OWN S**T!!!!
