On Monday afternoon, the Hollywood Foreign Press confirmed that the Golden Globes had been canceled and hours later at the Critics' Choice Awards, the stars reacted to the news.

George Clooney, a nominee for his film "Michael Clayton," said that even before the announcement was made, he had no plans to cross the Writers Guild of America strike picket line and attend the event.

"All I know is I belong to the six unions. I am a union guy. I will do what the Writers Guild says or asks," he told Access Hollywood's Tony Potts. "I think you have to be fully in support of the union on this one, so we'll do whatever they ask."

As for newcomer, "Hairspray" star Nikki Blonsky, the cancellation of the event left her disappointed.

"It was kind of like somebody canceling the senior prom last minute," she said. "It's kind of a downer but it's OK. I look at it as everything happens for a reason. What's meant to be is what's meant to be. Clearly this year there wasn't meant to be any Globes and that's OK. I am just honored to be nominated."

Amanda Bynes, another star of "Hairspray" expressed a similar sentiment.

Who even watches that crap? Oy, that is about as tacky as it gets. I am glad to see that go, and maybe next year it won't appear either. As for Clooney? I think any actor should boycot anything that goes against the writers. Those who cross the line? Shame on you.
