"Grivas did have a history of drug abuse, and our investigator found a syringe at the scene," Lt. Fred Corral of the L.A. Department of Coroner told People. "But we're not making any preliminary conclusions until a toxicology report is completed."

Following the news of his death, Applegate, 36, released the following statement:

"I am profoundly saddened. Lee was an incredible human being who was an extremely important and beautiful part of my life. He is missed beyond words. He touched so many and I feel much sadness for his mother, brother and all of his family and friends."

Applegate, who currently stars in ABC's "Samantha Who?," reportedly met Grivas (an aspiring photographer) while starring the Broadway musical "Sweet Charity" around 2006.

It is true we live or die by the choices we make, but sometimes the inner pain is to great to see clearly enough to make the right desicions, it took me 8 years to trully see then admit to myself I needed help. I've been sober 23 years now. It does'nt matter if the person is rich or poor. It has everything to do with selfworth, belief that one is more than what he or she believe

Drugs don't make a person. I knew Lee and had no idea he battled drug addiction. He was a beautiful person and i wish i had the chance to get to know him better. And as for all you who don't know him and are quick to judge; take a look at your life or look in the mirror and ask yourself what you're doing with your life. All you downers need to get your own life! R.I.P. Lee

They dated on and off for "years"? And yet they met in 2006? Well I'm no math major but isn't this 2008 thereby making it only two years since they met? I won't even mention the cradlerobbing...or the divorce about a year ago....oops! Already did. She must be a wonderful human being.

I am sick and tired of all the print that drugged up wannabes that end up dead receive. We all live or die by the choices we make every day. Is this kind of life style the norm for aspiring actors and musicians? The examples that these people set for our children is a disgrace. Thanks for this moment.

Very sad to hear this about such a young person - so hard on the family. My thoughts regarding Applegate is that it surprises me that she was involved with someone known to be involved in drugs - she doesn't seem like that type. And the age difference?

Money = drug addiction to many, but not to all. For a Hollywood so and so to be found dead, with a syringe lying next to them....Sounds like a trailer park thing to me.
