Christian Bale Breaks Down In Tears Watching Heath Ledger at MTV Movie Awards

The MTV Movie Awards was a night full of fun, but for ‘Dark Night’ star Christian Bale – it was an especially emotional one. Read on for more details.

Christian Bale couldn’t hold back his tears at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards.

The Batman star choked up after seeing co-star Heath Ledger on screen in a clip that highlighted Batman Begins — followed by a preview clip for The Dark Knight Rises.

When the lights came on after the video montage, Christian was crying.

“Man, great to remember Heath in that moment,” Christian said, as tears rolled down his face. “Wonderful to see Heath Ledger there.”

Heath — who played The Joker in the film franchise — passed away on Jan. 22 in 2008 after an alleged accidental overdose of prescription pills.

We definitely could feel Christian’s pain through the TV screen.
