Christian Bale has apologized for launching a 4-minute verbal attack -- in which he drops the F-bomb 36 times -- at a crew member on the set of Terminator Salvation.

"I have no confusion whatsoever -- I was out of order, beyond belief," Bale, 35, said Friday on "The Kevin & Bean Show" on L.A.'s KROQ 106.7.

"I acted like a punk. I regret that," he said. "There is nobody who has heard that tape that has been hit harder by it than me. It is inexcusable."

The audio -- which has since become the latest Internet viral trend, thanks to countless mash-ups and remixes -- was released earlier this week. It features Bale going off on cinematographer Shane Hurlbut last July for apparently walking behind costar Bryce Dallas Howard and through Bale's line of sight.

"Do you want me to go and trash your lights? Do you want me to go and trash them?" Bale screams. "Then why are you trashing my scene?"

He also threatens to beat up Hurlbut and quit the movie if Hurlbut's not fired.

Bale said it "disturbs" him that people now think he feels he is "better than everybody else."

He said he considers himself "lucky" to be working in the business and "that is why I put so much into what I do. Sometimes that enthusiasm goes awry.

"If anybody ever sees that I really am thinking I am better than anybody else, stick a fork in my backside, turn me over, and I will be done," he added. "That is not me."

Bale said on the day of his tirade, "I got annoyed...and I made it ugly. I took it way too far, and I completely mixed up fact and fiction."

Before getting off the phone, he urged fans not to let his expletive-filled outburst affect their decision to see the film, out May 22.

"Please, I am asking people, do not allow my onetime lapse in judgment, my incredibly embarrassing meltdown, to overshadow this movie.

"I am embarrassed by it, and I regret it," he said. "I ask everybody to sit down and ask themselves, 'Have they ever had a bad day and ever lost their temper and really regretted it immensely?'"

Asked about the countless remixes of his rant, Bale said, "Feel free to make fun of me at my expense. I deserve it completely."

I use to absolutely love Christian Bale. Now he scares me. His real life character seems kind of like his American Psycho side. Just scary. Red flags, red flags. Run ladies!!!!

I can understand losing your temper and using gutter snipe language, but the length of the of this display of outburst was really something else. I must say I thought only two year olds could carry on for so long!!!!!!! MJ in Texas

Christian Bale had a bad postal day. He should never be allowed in a federal Post Office. BTW, Far-Q.

I hope he apologized to the poor guy. But I don't think four minutes of f bombs and threats is "losing your cool". I can understand an outburst, but that was WAY over the top. I bet most of us would be fired immediately from our jobs for that kind of thing. That being said, he does seem sorry. Yikes, though. The remixes were fricking hilarious, though!

  • All these people on here that are judgeing him should shut up. There is not one person on here that can't say that they nevr lost their temper. We all do at one point. Leave him alone and get a life

He has apologized and hopefully has learned from it. If not, I am sure we will hear about it. If so, you know we won't. So much judgement from so many, so little time?

There's a few ridiculous posts here, and i bet some of the judgemental people replying have lost their cool at some point in their lives, but dont have the rest of the world looking at them. Stop judging and move on. The persons Bale owed an apology to was the people he was working with, and it seems he did. I wont skip a movie based on stuff like this.

Okay seriously. I get that he is an actor, but honestly, he is still a human. All being an actor means is that his bad days get caught on tape. Unless you are holier than perfect and have never had an anger outburst, you have no room to talk. And my guess is that the people who are saintly, are decent enough not to bad mouth another's mistake. I mean really. Get a life and leave the man al
