Chris Brown 's manager Tina Davis denies sending the three-page text message that started his alleged assault against Rihanna .

According to TMZ.com, Davis and Brown -- who are 20 years apart in age -- had an intimate relationship.

Davis' lawyer Marshall B Grossman released a statement that reads:

"The relationship between Ms. Davis and Mr. Brown is that of manager and client. There has never been any other relationship. The rumors in circulation are false. There are no emails between Ms. Davis and Mr. Brown of the type which have been described in media reports.

"If the source of the false rumors is identified, legal action will be taken. Given the nature of the legal issues affecting Mr. Brown, Ms. Davis will not be making any further statements."

According to an LAPD police statement, Rihanna discovered the lengthy text from "a woman Brown had had a previous relationship with," which caused a "verbal argument [to ensue]." The fight escalated, and Rihanna was later hospitalized with bruises and bite marks.

Brown was charged with two felonies and faces up to four years and eight months in prison. He is due to be arraigned on April 6.
