Chris Brown 's lawyer, Mark Geragos, has requested an "in chambers" hearing set for March 23 -- two weeks before the singer, 19, is to be arraigned for allegedly assaulting
Rihanna , 21, Usmagazine.com has confirmed.

Rihanna 's possible testimony in the domestic violence case. But Jane Robison of the Los Angeles District Attorney's office tells Us: "Since it's in chambers, we can't comment on anything that happens."
Brown -- who has been charged with two felonies in the Feb. 8 attack -- "does not have to be there. That is all we can say," Robison tells Us.
Look back at Chris and Rihanna's happier days. Rihanna 's lawyer, Donald Etra, previously told Us she would testify in the case, "if required."
The hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. in front of L.A. Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg.
The arraignment is still set for April 6.
