(Splash News)After hooking up with both Nicole Scherzinger and Rihanna in the past week, Chris Brown has finally chosen to break up with his girlfriend of over a year, Karrueche Tran. On Thursday – the day after he was caught with his arm around his ex at a Jay-Z concert in Brooklyn – the “Don’t Wake Me Up” singer announced he “decided to be single to focus on my career. I love Karrueche very much, but I don’t want to see her hurt over my friendship with Rihanna. I'd rather be single allowing us to both be happy in our lives."
Although Brown’s “focus on my career” excuse is a good one – after all, his new album, Fortune, only sold 45,000 copies in its second week and was widely panned by critics – it seems he instead wants to focus on Rihanna.
On Wednesday night, the two looked cozy at a Jay-Z concert at the new Barclays Center. In a photo posted on Twitter, Brown had his arms around the “We Found Love” singer’s chair and the two reportedly mingled in a VIP area with Beyonce. The day before, the 23-year-old was spotted leaving the Gansevoort Hotel, where Rihanna, 24, has been staying, after a night of “kissing and hugging” at The Griffin nightclub.
Following Brown and Rihanna’s PDA, Tran posted a photo on her Twitter of a “special delivery” that was sent to her hotel room in NYC: white roses, a teddy bear, and Godiva chocolates. After getting mocked by her followers for being “clowned intentionally” and a “laughing stock,” she deleted the pic. On Wednesday, she flew out of Manhattan and tweeted, “Bye baby.”
