Like her contemporaries, Cher Lloyd was discovered by Cowell on the U.K. version of "The X Factor." Although she didn't win she was signed to Cowell's Syco Music label. Now she's taking the U.S. by storm, inking a stateside record deal with the U.S. "X Factor's" L.A. Reid. She arrived in New York on May 1 and will stay for three weeks. While she visits, here's five things you may not know about Cher Lloyd.
She Has a Wide Range of Musical Influences
She Prefers a U.K. Favorite for Food
When it comes to food she is not a big risk taker and sustains herself mostly on the standard Brit faire fish and chips. She recently wrote on her blog, "I love food.. but let's just say I'm not overly adventurous! I'm trying though… really I am! As long as I've got my chips on the side... then I'll try something new." She's not a fan of truffle oil or grapefruit, but she loves a good milkshake.
She Will Be All Over the U.S. Press
Look for her in several of the big teen magazines, online outlets and radio stations. On her first U.S. press junket she spoke to Sirius Radio, Nylon, Bullet, J-14, Twist, M, Elle and Teen Vogue. She wrote, "Teeeeeeeeen Vooooggguuuueee! Me & Teen Vogue, how exciting is that!?!""
She Left Astro in the Dust
Lloyd released the original version of her song "Want U Back" in the U.K. featuring a mid-song rap break by U.S. "X Factor" wunderkind Astro. In the U.S. version, Astro is no where to be found. Now stories are surfacing that he has been replaced by Snoop Dog in an upcoming release.
She's Planning a Summer Wedding
The "Swagger Jagger" singer is rumored to be planning to strut down the aisle and tie the knot with her hairdresser beau Craig Monk. Monk is with her in the U.S. this week and they are allegedly planning a summer wedding.
