"Chelsea Lately" comedian Chelsea Handler might be getting serious with hotelier Andre Balazs, but don't assume that the relationship will evolve to children.
"I don't think I'd be a great mother," Handler, 38, told talk show host Amanda de Cadenet during an April 27 episode of her show. "I don't want to have a kid and have it raised by a nanny. I don't have the time to raise a child."
Brutally honest, but it's what we've come to expect from the outspoken E! host. Not that she's the only celebrity to swear off children: Plenty of A-listers have expressed their desire to remain childless for the foreseeable future.
"New Girl" actress Zooey Deschanel seems like she'd be a fun, quirky mom. However, the divorced funnywoman told Marie Claire that she didn't develop the desire to have kids.
"My sister was always very motherly, babysitting and stuff," she said of older sister, "Bones" star Emily Deschanel. "I like kids, and I like being around kids -- but it was never an ambition... I like working. That's what I like doing. I like to work."
Want to see what the offspring of Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling would look like? Well, you'll be guessing for a while: She doesn't want children.
"I don't wanna have kids," she said in 2007. "I love the little suckers; they're so cute but I love sleep so much and I worry about everything."
We wonder if that'll ever cause problems between Mendes and her "Place Beyond the Pines" beau? Gosling has talked a length about his desire for children.
"I'd like to be making babies but I'm not, so I'm making movies," he said in 2011. "When someone comes along, I don't think I'll be able to do both and I'm fine with that. I'll make movies until I make babies."
Guess that means we'll be seeing plenty more Gosling movies.
It's not exactly surprising that eternal bachelor George Clooney doesn't want children. The actor -- currently dating Stacy Keibler -- says kids make him nervous.
"If I need to surround myself with children and feel like I have this big extended family, I can always call Brad and Angie and ask them to stay with me, just to remind myself why I'm so happy," he joked in 2008.
Actress Cameron Diaz once said that having children would mess up her perfect life.
"I think it's just a different choice... People might say, 'That's bull. She actually really wants to have a baby.' My answer is, 'No! Everything I'm bringing into my life right now isn't geared toward that,'" she said in 2009.
Agree or not, you have to admire her honesty.
