Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller 's twin son Max was released from the hospital -- where he has been since his March 14 birth -- and returned home a few days ago, his rep confirms to Usmagazine.com.

Max remained in the hospital for several weeks due to birth-related weight issues -- not because of a heart condition, as some sites reported.

"The weight issue is very common among infants who were born before reaching full term," Sheen told Us in a statement last week. "I know a lot of people are not fond of hospital food' I just didn't realize they that started so young."

Sheens rep, Stan Rosenfield, first told Access Hollywood that Max reached the weight requirements necessary to leave.

"Both boys are now home," he told Us.
