Singer Charice Pempengco, who has guest starred on Fox's "Glee", is dealing with the unexpected loss of her father who was murdered earlier this week in the Philippines. A statement from the star revealed that she and her father "had been estranged for several years but Charice, who has been touring in South East Asia with David Foster, was hoping to reconcile with him."
The young star cancelled her upcoming performances and tweeted abou the loss writing, "I loved him and I will still love him. He's still my Dad after all."
Unfortunately, the news off his death and their ongoing estrangement shines a light on how stressing celebrity can be on the traditional parent / child relationships. It used to be big news when a star separated from their parents making headlines around the world.

Drew Barrymore: She may have been a wild child in her teens, but Drew Barrymore had some major inspiration in her mother Jaid. At the height of her E.T. popularity, Jaid would head to the clubs, including Studio 54, with ther daughter and let her partake in drinking, smoking, and drug use. The young actress entered rehab at age 13 and was emancipated from her mom.
Christina Crawford: The adopted daughter of Joan Crawford brought the dark side of growing up in Hollywood to light in her best-seller, "Mommie Dearest". In the book, she claimed that her mom physically and emotionally abused her and her brother. The fact that the book was published after her mother elected to leave both kids out in the cold in her will may have helped inspire Christina to reveal the family's dirty laundry.
