And baby makes … four? It seems like every day we're reading about another celebrity pregnant with twins. What's behind this baby bonanza? Many celebrity moms delay having babies until their careers are established and their fertility is waning. Fertility treatments often lead to twins, and this is one reason for the celebrity twins baby boom.
Who are some celebrity moms with twins?
Angelina Jolie and hunky partner Brad Pitt are parents of twins. Angelina adopted sons Maddox and Pax and daughter Zahara and gave birth to daughter Shiloh before having twins Vivienne and Knox in 2008. "It is chaos, but we are managing it and having a wonderful time," Jolie has said of her life with twins.
J Lo has said that twins Max and Emme, born in 2008, strengthened her and Marc Anthony's marriage. "Having kids made us both see that there's a bigger picture," the diva stated. Her marriage has ended, but Lopez continues to gain strength from her twins, taking them with her to work.
Twins Moroccan (boy) and Monroe (girl) were born to singers Mariah and Nick Cannon in 2011. Typical of Carey's over-the-top style, she reportedly spent up to a million dollars decking out two nurseries for her tots - one in New York and another in Bel-Air. "It's going to be a delicate balance between raising them around glitz and glamour and keeping them grounded," Carey has said of her twins. No doubt about that!
Sure, she's more famous for her sextuplets. But before the six, Kate and ex husband Jon Gosselin had twins, Cara and Mady. Jon was content with his two girls, but Kate famously wanted "just one more" … which, thanks to fertility treatments, turned out to be Aaden, Joel, Collin, Alexis, Leah, and Hannah.
Singer Celine has been open about her struggles with fertility, miscarriages, and IVF treatments. In 2010 she and husband Rene Angelil added twins Eddy and Nelson to their family (they already had a son, Rene Charles, born in 2002). "You get busy with twins and you feed them so they help you to recover very fast," Dion said, referring to the swift return of her tiny figure.
Sarah Jessica Parker
"Sex and the City" star SJP was 44 when she and husband Matthew Broderick decided to expand their family via a surrogate. Twin girls, Tabitha and Marion, were born in 2009 to join the family's six-year-old son, James. "Honestly, the only thing I'm concerned about is the energy…there are two of them!" the celebrity mom enthused.
TV star Marcia and husband Tom Mahoney were thrilled to become parents of twins when Cross was 45. Daughters Eden and Savannah, born in 2007, were worth the preeclampsia the "Desperate Housewives" star suffered prior to their birth. "I'm in heaven right now," Cross confided after the tots' birth. "I feed, I burp, I change diapers, I pump. And then I have a tiny window of time to myself."
2004 saw the arrival of twins Hazel and Phinnaeus to actress Julia Roberts and husband Danny Moder, already the parents of Henry. Even with the nannies and money available to stars like Roberts, she has no plans to expand her family further. "I think I'm good," she said of her family's current size.
As Charlie Sheen's ex-wife (and current flame,) Brooke Mueller has plenty to keep her busy. But the celebrity is the mother of twins as well, sons Bob and Max, born in 2009. Mueller has spent time in rehab, and Sheen is famous for his antics. In the midst of this chaos, Brooke's parents have stepped in and spent lots of times with twins Bob and Max. Let's hope the boys will end up "winning" in spite of their unpredictable parents.
Lisa Marie Presley
Elvis's little girl was all grown up with two teenagers before she and husband #2, Michael Lockwood, became parents of twins. The couple welcomed twin girls Finley and Harper in 2008, and Lisa Marie Presley described the family's life as "chaotic bliss."
