The tabloids are on fire with stories that actress Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher are divorcing. Rumors of his rampant lady-hounding have plagued news headlines for a few months, but officially began in 2010. And just when we thought that there was nothing to the rumors, a few nasty tidbits have emerged. The two just spent their sixth year anniversary apart, adding even more fuel to the fire. Some are pretty certain the two are headed for a costly divorce.
If you've been paying attention to pop culture trends, you've probably noticed that many celeb couples seem to fall apart after five years. Is this some sort of Hollywood curse? Even though Demi and Ashton are technically still married, could they too have succumbed to this awful trend? Most recall her longtime marriage to actor Bruce Willis. But Ashton Kutcher is actually Demi's 3rd husband. Even in the 80s, the Five-Year Itch prevailed; her first marriage to musician Freddy Moore lasted from 1980 to 1985.
Thomas Jane and Patricia Arquette (2006-2011)
The whole world was rooting for this Hollywood couple. Thomas Jane and Patricia Arquette seemed like a perfect match. The pair first announced their intent to divorce in 2009. But they reconciled, and it appeared that all was well. Perhaps Patricia couldn't deal with his "male prostitute" secrets, as the two officially ended their union in 2011.
Laura Dern and Ben Harper (2005-2010)
Ironically, this unlikely pair had been quietly dating for five years before they unleashed their love on the world in 2005. They married, and it seemed that they might make a real go of it. Indeed, they did---for a while, even welcoming two children. But in 2010, these two called it quits.
Halle Berry and David Justice (1992-1997)
Halle appears to be a popular member of the Five-Year Itch club. Her first marriage to Atlanta Braves baseball player David Justice failed to make the six-year mark. Her second set of nuptials fared no better; she and singer Eric Benet called it quits after just four years. Swearing off marriage, she got involved with hunky Calvin Klein model Gabriel Aubry. But alas, the Five-Year Itch reared its ugly head. And the two called things off in 2010.
Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston (2000-2005)
Hollywood's Golden Couple shocked and saddened their fans when they revealed they were divorcing in 2005. A whirlwind of rumors flooded tabloids, and have ever since. Many might claim that seductress Angelina Jolie helped Brad Pitt to scratch his Five-Year Itch.
