What is it with celebrities and ears this week?
Two different celebrities - with vastly different stories - disclosed their problems with the hearing organ this week.
And yes, both are pretty nasty.
Jared Leto Received An Ear From a Fan
Actor and 30 Seconds to Mars musician Jared Leto did an interview with the British radio station Xfm earlier this week. During the chat, host Phil Clifton asked Leto to describe the weirdest gift he received from a fan.
Was it a lock of hair? A hand-drawn photo of him in the nude? Nope… think darker. Much, much darker.
"Someone cut their ear off once and sent it to me, that was very strange," Leto said. "The Van Gogh move. The note just said, 'Are you listening?'. I never knew who it was, who's missing their ear out there."
So, did he report it to the proper authorities in case someone was murdered or mutilated out there looking for their ear? Nope, he just wore it as a necklace.
Oh, and he posted a NSFW photo of it on his Instagram account.
This is really not cool, Jared. Just… yuck.
'Game of Thrones' Actor Has Ear Bitten Off
Actor Clive Mantle - better known as Lord Greatjon Umber - had part of his ear ripped off at a Newcastle, England, hotel during a dispute over noise.
The 58-year-old actor later underwent surgery to have his ear reattached - and naturally, he's pretty upset about it.
"You don't expect this kind of thing to happen in a hotel," his spokesman said. "The part of the ear that was bitten off was found and sewn back on. Mr Mantle said the police, ambulance and hospital staff were amazing."
Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield Make Nice
Maybe Mantle and his attacker will eventually make nice - it happened to another ear-biter.
Boxer Mike Tyson made waves 15 years ago when he bit off opponent Evander Holyfield's ear during a highly contentious match.
The pair has let bygones be bygones, though - and they even hugged during a February event in Chicago.
"It sent a message and let the world know that two fighters can come and forgive each other and move on for the best and the world can do the same thing," Holyfield said of the hug. "Everyone knows we were archrivals and all that, but when all is said and done, I forgave him and he forgave himself."
But, that's still doesn't make it right: Violence is never the answer, kids.
