Katy Perry really, really loves to be blue - well, at least she loves her hair in a blue hue. The "Part of Me" singer has been sporting blue strands for weeks now and she shows no sign of slowing down. Why so blue? Well, it's all part of her liberation from ex-husband Russell Brand.
"I was trying to find a happy medium between crazy and mature," she told the BBC's Radio 1 last week. "I'm in a really healthy place. I'm working out and on a wonderful meal plan, and I'm taking my vitamins every day. It is showing up on my physique and face. With all those bonuses I feel I don't have to wear as much makeup. I'm still doing fun things with my hair."
We'll admit it: We'd wear blue hair if we knew we'd look like Katy and not like clowns. Other celebrities must feel the same way because blue is becoming the color du jour these days.
Okay, so Rihanna has rocked pretty much every color of hair besides blue. However, she will as soon as she can find the right hue.
"Navy blue is my color right now," she told People recently. "Not any blue, not the punk blue. I have yet to see the right one. It does not exist yet!"
"Everyone's rockin' blue right now," Perry's BFF added. "It just works. I think it has something to do with Blue Ivy."
Wouldn't it be cute if both Rihanna and Katy had blue hair at the same time? Let's make it happen, hairdressers.
"The blue hair came about because we both really loved the pink hair from Givenchy's [Fall 2010 ad campaign]," she told StyleCaster. "We were both attracted to that kind of faded color look, but because pink had already been done we thought to do a faded blue and make it a little different -- kind of pay homage to that slight grunge-y look."
She's since ditched the look - and that's fine by us, it didn't look that good on her (sadly).
"Hart of Dixie" actress Jaime King stepped out last week with Bosworth-esque blue strands. No word on what inspired the change, but we love the pop of color with her baby blues!
Singer Gwen Stefani was the first female to step out into the spotlight with a serious shock of blue hair. The No Doubt frontwoman wore blue hair for a time during the late '90s - and her sons, Zuma and Kingston, rocked the look last summer.
Who wears blue hair the best?
