Paramount Pictures has acquired the rights to the life story of intelligence operative Kathi Lynn Austin, whose experience in terrorism and arms trafficking will be the basis for an action thriller vehicle designed for Angelina Jolie to star in, Variety reports.

Austin, who has worked for the U.N. Security Councils, has been involved in missions across the globe, including Africa, Europe, Asia and Central America.
According to Variety, Paramount's film will focus on a fictional arms dealer, inspired by infamous Russian arms dealer Victor Bout.
The pitch of the film was described as being similar to Matt Damon's "The Bourne Identity."

Angelina, who currently stars in the fantasy pic "Beowulf," will next be seen on the big screen in the action-packed "Wanted," alongside James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman.
She is currently filming "The Changeling," a kidnap thriller directed by Clint Eastwood.

It's a double dose of roles for Edward Norton in the comedic thriller "Leaves of Grass," where the actor will play identical twins, reports Variety.
One of the twins is an Ivy League professor, while the other is a wild pot-smoking career criminal.
"Grass" will be directed by Tim Blake Nelson, who wrote and will also co-star in the film.
Norton and Nelson recently wrapped production on "The Incredible Hulk," in which Norton plays the title role.
Norton will begin shooting "Grass" after finishing the Universal drama "State of Play," the political thriller in which Russell Crowe replaced Brad Pitt.

Josh Brolin, James Franco and Emile Hirsch are in final talks to star opposite Sean Penn in "Milk," per The Hollywood Reporter.
Directed by Gus Van Sant, Penn will play the title character, Harvey Milk, in the biopic about the country's first openly gay elected official.
All filming will happen in San Francisco, where Milk became the first openly gay man elected to a public office in 1977. The next year, he and Mayor George Moscone were shot to death by city supervisor Dan White (Brolin).
Hirsch will play gay rights activist Cleve Jones, an ally of Milk's, while Franco plays Scott Smith, Milk's lover and campaign manager.

Samuel L. Jackson will star in the thriller "Unfinished Country," per The Hollywood Reporter.
Described as a "Training Day"-style thriller, Jackson plays the head of an overcrowded hospital in South Africa's violent Soweto ghettos.
However, his methods of treating patients are questioned when a young American med student arrives at the hospital, which eventually is caught in the crossfire of local gang warfare.
Filming will take place at South Africa's Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, the world's largest hospital.
Jackson next appears in the sci-fi drama "Jumper," opposite Hayden Christensen and Diane Lane.

Adam Brody will speed into the role of the Flash, the fleet-footed superhero in "Justice League of America," The Los Angeles Times reports.
The film will be helmed by George Miller, whose directorial credits include "Happy Feet," "Babe: Pig In The City" and "Mad Max 2."
The studio declined to confirm the news and is expected to wait until all the roles are filled for a grand unveiling, according to the Times.
Although Jessica Biel had been rumored to stepping into the role of Wonder Woman, Aussie actress Megan Gale has reportedly been tapped for the part.
Other stars who are rumored to be involved in the project include Scott Porter ("Friday Night Lights") as Superman and R&B, hip-hop star Common as the Green Lantern.
Based on the popular DC Comics series, the film is expected to focus on the younger versions of legendary crime-fighters, including Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, Aquaman, the Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter.
