Cannon says he is completely healthy after illness

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — What do you do after recovering from a serious illness? If you're Nick Cannon, you celebrate by attending the Super Bowl.

The entertainer was hospitalized last month after suffering from a form of mild kidney failure, but he says he is now fully healed.

"This is a great place to get back and debut the healthy Nick," he said on Sunday during a break as the host of NBC's pre-game show. "Everybody's out here having a good time, and you know people were worried like, 'Is he going to be able to do the Super Bowl pre-show?' But I am 100 percent feeling good right now."

Cannon attributes his improved health to a change in diet, but says he does not eat the same food as wife Mariah Carey, who recently lost weight after giving birth to their twins Moroccan and Monroe.

"I used to be a fast-food junkie," Cannon explained. "She gets to have higher protein, which isn't fair because I love my steaks and I can't eat that anymore. Her carbs are lower so we are both on a diet, but it is different."

Cannon, who is a New York Giants fan, attended various events in the days leading up to the Super Bowl.

While his family was not with him, they were not far from his mind. When asked if he'd like to expand his brood one day, he laughed and said: "I would love to have more children. Now my wife on the other hand, I think the twins took a toll on her. She is like, 'I ain't doing that again.'"

Obviously, he is not "fully healed," or he wouldn't be having to be on a renal/protein restricted diet. Apparently he has some degree of renal compromise, hopefully that will be able to be controlled by his diet. I wish him the best, no one should have to deal with kidney issues.

What is WRONG with people these days? Nick Cannon is a sweet guy! For those of you who apparently live under rocks, he was in the movie "Drum Line", he is also the host for "America's Got Talent", and if you need to know more, GOOGLE his name.

I'm so relieved to hear he's made a full recovery, and I wish him WELL in whatever he chooses to do. He's more than just a Hollywood entertainer, he's a HUSBAND and a FATHER, and on that front, EVERYONE should be able to relate to his situation on a compassionate level.

Mariah named her child Moroccan? Why do the rich n famous feel the need to name their children with such weird names?

still, nothing can top "Rumer" as a name for a kid. Even though it's spelled differently. Well that and Apple. #$%$ is that.

Poor people are just as creative. Why should it bother anyone? I like it.

The article says "a form of mild kidney failure." What does that even mean???? He either suffered a mild kidney failure or didn't right?

Glad to hear that Cannon is okay. I love all of the 70s detective shows----Mannix, Cannon, Barnaby Jones, Hawaii Five-O----Cannon always had a weight issue. Glad to hear William Conrad is recovered and feeling well enough to go to the big game.

I think that their wording may have been wrong about 'kidney failure' I had kidney problems as a kid where my kidneys would stop functioning properly for a few weeks and then I would just take steroids and be OK again. so, it is possible...

i have had kidney failure over a year and haven't fully healed. I call Bull$%*t on this illness. when your kidneys go, they are going to keep getting worse, there is no improvement. so this was drama for headlines.

I had kidney failure last January. My kidney's came back with in 6 weeks! I was on that awful diet and was on dialysis 3 times a week.

Glad he's okay, but what the heck is "mild" kidney failure? Is that like "mild" cancer?
