City in conjunction with the New York Comedy Festival.
Bob Woodruff is the ABC News anchorman who was severely injured in
a roadside bombing in Iraq, in 2006. His foundation raises money to
assist members of the U.S. military injured while serving.
The event is "an opportunity to give back to our wounded service
members in gratitude for their sacrifices," Bob and and his wife
Lee Woodruff said in a statement. "Together we can help our injured
troops overcome the challenges they face as they re-integrate into
society."
Last years inaugural event raised more than $2 million.
"It's coming back remarkably fast," Bob told
USA Today of
his recovery in 2007. "But I know there are going to be moments,
when I'm reporting a story live, that I forget the name of the
person I'm interviewing. It might be a campaign, or it might be a
hurricane. I might forget the name of the mayor of the town I'm in.
But I think people will understand that."
