Just in time for Father's Day, Kardashian stepbrother Brody Jenner is dishing some daddy drama. On an upcoming episode of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," the 29-year-old reality star confronts his father, Olympic great Bruce Jenner, on being an absentee dad when he was a kid.
After he sees how Bruce interacts with his younger kids, Kendall and Kylie, Brody says to his famous father, "It's interesting to watch how you are with the girls, because it's like, something I'm not really used to. You weren't around since I was a kid…"
But Bruce isn't having it -- on camera, at least. "Now's not the time to talk about it," he says curtly.
Brody's confessional scene says it all: "The way I see Bruce with Kendall and Kylie and Brandon, I'm actually so happy for them. I think Bruce is an incredible human being and I think that Bruce is an incredible father -- he just wasn't a great father to me."
You can see the scene here.
Brody -- whose parents divorced when he was a baby (his mom is former pageant queen Linda Thompson) -- has rarely been seen on previous seasons of the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians." He signed on as a regular cast member of the hit E! reality show this season, telling E! News, "I'm looking forward to the upcoming season and getting to know my extended family a little better." (On his end, Bruce said, "I've been blessed with a very large family, 10 kids, and I've been waiting for years for Brody to break down and spend more time with the family.")
Brody is a reality TV king in his own right, though, starring in shows like "The Hills," "The Princes of Malibu," and "Bromance." But according to Extra, he may have had more personal reasons for signing on to "Keeping With the Kardashians."
"Over the years as I was a kid, I hate to say it, but Bruce wasn't around all the time," the 29-year old said. "He was sometimes, but we started hanging out and developing a relationship, and his whole life is on television."
In the past, Jenner Jr. has questioned his dad's clout when it comes to, say, getting into the Playboy mansion. According to Details, Brody once tried to sneak into the club by saying he was actor James Caan's son. When that didn't work, he said, "After they caught me, I tried to go the 'son of Bruce Jenner' route, but it didn't work."
But there have been some good times. In 2012, Brody accompanied his dad to the Olympic trials. He told CBS Philly, "It was one of the most incredible experiences to be with him for something like that. He hadn't been back to that same field in 35 years and it was pretty special… Not only did Ashton Eaton beat Dan [O'Brien's] record but he also beat the world record, so to watch Bruce's expressions and emotions during that is something I'll remember for the rest of my life. Honestly, I wouldn't have missed it for the world and I had a great time."
While Bruce has received Father of the Year honors from the Southern California Father's Day Committee, Brody may beg to differ. Besides, he seems to be more of a mama's boy. Brody recently tweeted birthday wishes to his mom and included an adorable pic of his toddler self snuggling with her. "Happy birthday to my amazing mom @ltlindathompson," he wrote. "Thanks for always letting me crash on your lap :) love u."
