NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. -- Broadway dimmed its lights Thursday night to honor Natasha Richardson , who died Wednesday after suffering a serious head injury on a Canadian ski slope on Monday.

Richardson's friends and colleagues, including Matthew Broderick , Sarah Jessica Parker and Laura Linney , joined husband Liam Neeson , mother Vanessa Redgrave and sister Joely Richardson in NYC's theater district when the lights dimmed at 8 PM.

Neeson was seen embracing friends and loved ones under the dimmed lights just 24 hours after his wife's tragic and sudden death.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Richardson's family released a statement on Wednesday afternoon to Access Hollywood confirming the news.

" Liam Neeson , his sons, and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha," the statement read. "They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time."

A service is planned for the actress at the Greenwich Village Funeral Home. Richardson was 45.
