Britney Spears Takes On Primetime Role

Britney Spears is heading back to primetime.

The embattled pop singer, who previously appeared on an episode of NBC's "Will & Grace," has a new sitcom role on the cards.

Britney has a small part in CBS' "How I Met Your Mother," the comedy starring Alyson Hannigan and Neil Patrick Harris, a rep for the show confirmed to Access Hollywood.

It is not known when she will film the role.

Britney isn't the only member of the Spears family to take a part in a sitcom. Jamie Lynn Spears, Britney's younger sister and the star of "Zoey 101," has a guest role in ABC's new series, "Miss Guided."

Jamie Lynn plays a promiscuous high schooler in the March 20 episode of the show, which stars Judy Greer.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, 16-year-old Jamie Lynn is pregnant with her first child, due later this year.

    This is good for Brit. Has it ever occured to anyone that some people are actually reaching out to Brit to help her and not condemn her. She is trying to get her life back, maybe it will help her to do something a little different once in awhile. Give her a break, she made big mistakes, she is young she can, with the help of God and people who care about her get her life together.

    wow...i'm a die hard himym fan, but definately not anymore if they are having her guest star...it's really sad that such a quality show has to resort to something like this to get ratings...
