Kaplan questioned Spears for 14 minutes, the lawyer told Access Hollywood.
Another deposition has been scheduled, but its date was not announced immediately.
On Saturday December 29, Kaplan told People magazine he would be deposing Spears early this year.

Spears missed a scheduled deposition related to the custody of the former couple's two children Sean Preston and Jayden James, earlier this month over an illness. She was later spotted out in Los Angeles the same evening.
Kaplan said that despite Spears' missed deposition, he did not want to see her reprimanded.
"Kevin isn't interested, nor am I, in punishing her," Kaplan said. "We just want to get information necessary to proceed further."
