VANCOUVER, B.C. -- Just 15 minutes and three songs into Wednesday night's sold-out Vancouver stop of Britney's "Circus" tour, the singer left the stage due to excessive smoke in the arena, the Associated Press reported.

An announcement was made saying, "It's become uncomfortable and unsafe for the performers, including Ms. Spears," which elicited big boos from the crowd, according to a blog post on The Vancouver Sun.

"The show will resume as soon as the air around the stage is clear." A rep for the singer issued a statement to the Associated Press, saying, "crew members above the stage became ill due to a ventilation issue."

After a 30 minute wait - and once the smoke had cleared, the singer returned to the stage performing a well-received Bollywood-inspired rendition of "Me Against the Music," followed by "Everytime," where she asked the crowd, "What's up, Vancouver?" People reported.

The rest of the concert went off without incident. Britney closed the show, as usual, with her hit, "Womanizer."
