Boy George was sentenced to 15 months behind bars on Friday for falsely imprisoning a male escort in his London flat in 2007.
At his sentencing in east London, Judge David Radford called the singer (real name: George O'Dowd) "callous" and said he was guilty of "gratuitous violence," adding that he "traumatized" his victim.
See today's top celeb news photos. Boy George was found guilty last December after Norwegian Audun Carlsen claimed the Culture Club crooner handcuffed him to his bed and also beat him with a metal chain when he tried to escape after a naked photo shoot.
See photos of 2008's biggest celeb scandals. Boy George has admitted that he handcuffed Carlsen because he thought Carlsen was tampering with his home computer. He denied assaulting Carlsen or swinging a chain at him.
Carlsen told the court that
Boy George made up the story about computer tampering so he could punish him for not having sex.
Said Carlsen, "I think he couldn't handle the refusal -- me not having sex with him."
This isn't
Boy George 's first run-in with the law: He was ordered to sweep the streets of NYC in 2006 as part of his community service after pleading guilty to falsely reporting a burglary at his NYC pad. Police found cocaine instead.
