Pain and Gain earned $20 million in its opening weekend to claim the top spot at the box office. The Michael Bay comedy, starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, narrowly slipped past last week's top film, Tom Cruise's Oblivion, which fell to the No. 2 spot with $17.4 million in its second week, Box Office Mojo reports.
Also slipping one place to No. 3 was the Jackie Robinson biopic 42, which took in $10.7 million.
Ensemble romantic comedy The Big Wedding flopped, opening in fourth place with a measly $7.5 million. Rounding out the top five was animated comedy The Croods, which earned $6.6 million in its sixth week.
