Life for two popular celebrities got pretty complicated as 2011 closed out. For one, her supposed fairytale romance with an NBA player dissolved after just 72 days. For another, she was dragged into court, spent a few hours in jail, and just had her purse with about $10,000 in it stolen while in Hawaii. Needless to say, Kim Kardashian and Lindsay Lohan are probably ready for 2011 to just go away.
Both LiLo and Kim have taken a few public-relations jabs on the chin lately. Public backlash over her divorce has seemed to put Kardashian back on her heels a little bit. Though she's not gone completely out of the spotlight, she does seem to be taking a much more reserved approach to life in the aftermath of her divorce from Kris Humphries. Lohan too just can't seem to catch a break, and in an interview with Playboy, she admitted that a lot of her troubles could have been avoided if she'd taken some much needed advice.
So which of these two ladies will be able to pull up out of their recent tailspin and make a career recovery first? Both Kim and Lindsay have projects on-deck that could potentially vault them back into the spotlight in a more positive way.
Kim Kardashian - Kim has definitely been knocked around a bit in the press and in the court of public opinion. In 2012 though, she's set to star in a film written and directed by one of the hottest talents in Hollywood these days, Tyler Perry. Perry cast the reality-TV star in his film "The Marriage Counselor." She'll co-star with Vanessa Williams and Eric West. If her performance in the film is strong enough, it could help cast her in a different light, perhaps showing off acting chops that heretofore no one really knew she had, and her career could get a shot in the arm, rebounding her away from the mess of the last few weeks.
Lindsay Lohan - If there's one star who's had a more devastating end to their 2011 than Kim Kardashian, it's got to be Lindsay. The "Mean Girls" and "Freaky Friday" star saw her personal life put out on display for all to see when she was found to be in violation of her probation and was sentenced to 30 days in jail (of which she served about four hours). However, she also inked a lucrative deal with Playboy to pose nude and appear on the cover, which has already been leaked, forcing the magazine to bump up the release of her issue. Will her Playboy spread launch her back into the limelight, or will it just serve as one more reminder of a once-promising career gone horribly awry?
