Bobby Brown Sobs at Concert Hours After Whitney Houston's Death

Bobby Brown Sobs at Concert Hours After Whitney Houston's Death

Just hours after the shocking death of his ex-wife Whitney Houston, the show went on for Bobby Brown on Saturday night.

The R&B singer, 43, went ahead with a planned concert in Mississippi with his famed group New Edition as news hit that Houston had died at age 48 in her hotel room at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.

After reportedly breaking down backstage pre-show, Brown (who shared daughter Bobbi Kristina, 18, with Houston) declined to join his bandmates for the opening song. According to a concertgoer, he then went onstage for the second song to massive cheers, singing "Hit Me Off" with gusto.

At the end of another song, Brown shouted "I love you, Whitney!" and blew a kiss to the sky, looking visibly teary.

    PHOTOS: Volatile celebrity splits

During the ballad "Tenderoni," Brown broke down onstage, the source says. As he sobbed, he asked the audience to sing along to the hit.

Brown and Houston were married from 1992 to 2007.

    PHOTOS: Whitney's bizarre plane outburst

Despite their volatile relationship, Houston told Oprah Winfrey in 2009, "I loved him so much...He was my drug. I didn't do anything without him."

Authorities reported Saturday evening that "no signs of foul play" were behind Houston's shocking passing, and her cause of death remains unknown. She entered rehab for drug and alcohol addictions last May.

It is so sad to see something like this happen a wonderful talent joins those who went before her for the same reasons. A bright flame snuffed out and the world deprived of a voice long to be remembered, no matter how she passed. Sad, Sad.

It is truly sad what happen to Whitney Houston it really is. she was one of my favorite singers.I thought she was a classy lady. but let us look at it on the real side no one can make you do any thing that you don"t want to do. we all have a choice of what road we want to venture down no one can make us live a life that we don"t want to live and putting the blame on Bobby Brown is crazy he may have introduced her to all kinds of drugs but still the choice was up to her. let's stop blaming other people for what we decide in life and be responsible for our life.

whatever! have you ever heard of peer pressure, well what happens when that pressure comes from someone you love and respect. He lead her to drugs, and the sad part is he was able to kick the habit and she never was. I hate bobby brown, and i hope he gets what's coming to him.
Even if it weren't for the drugs, that man was physically and emotionally abusive to her and there daughter. He has a lot to answer for.

well spoken the man/lady from minneapolis ... May GOd be with her... i love her with her mistakes because she's only human... i've my mistakes i'm making right now and it takes the grace of that for me to stop making them... people learn to accept that we are all human beings and we are bound by one temptation or the other....it just varies from individuals ... so stop blaming no one

Have you never done what you were told because you knew if you didn't there would be ramifications. Then I guess you were never a child and you have never been in an abusive relationship. Oh we can get out, but we pay!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you! It's not like Bobby turned her out! She was an adult when she started fooling around with drugs and alcohol.

RIGHT YOU ARE Luv2vacation2!! If Bobby Brown truly Loved Whitney and was genuinely hurt by her death...Then he should have cancelled & postponed the concert and tour to be with his Daughter!! ...ESPECIALLY WHEN SHE WAS JUST TAKEN TO A HOSPITAL BECAUSE HER MOM HAD JUST DIED!!! HELLLOOO??!! These people are so fabricated, aloof and absolute hypocrites talking about themselves as "having strong faith in God" and "Loving their family more than anything". Blah..Blah..Blah they make me sick!

True. But, anybody could have introduced her to the drugs.
      • babegurl 3 months ago
That's right....and that anybody happens to be her brother. He introduced Whitney to drugs.

Bobby Brown suffers from mental illness. He was diagnosed with mental problems as a child. In his adult life he was diagnosed as suffering from bipolor disorder. Whitney would have gone through a lot with this man. It is to bad she made the choice to be with him. Had she not taken up with Bobby she may well be alive today. I guess she just couldn't get past the fall-out from this marriage and the drugs Bobby introduced her to. I pray for her daughter and her family. I pray her daughter does not cope through the same method as her mother when faced with lifes problems and heartache. I see they sedated her when she fell apart, why do they do that, one has to deal with it eventually, better to do that drug free, hopefully this 'drug induced copeing for her grieving mother won't turn out to a thing that leads to her demise as well. A drug is a drug. Lets pray she will get passed this and learn to handle life leaning on God and His strength instead of drugs. (the easy softer way to distruction)

Whitney was doing drugs long before she ever met Bobby Brown.

Yea...reeeeeally loved her. That's why her career ended when she got involved with him. I don't know what this beautiful and talented woman saw in this loser. I guess it's true that love is blind. WH you were one of kind. RIP.

It seems like after she met Bobby Brown her life was out of control and never the same, AGAIN. She was on top of the world before meeting him, and then in an instance it was gone. I hope Whitney is now at PEACE, and to know that we never forgot about her, she was always in our prayers & she will be forever missed. R.I.P Whitney.

You are right! He ruined her and eventually it killed her. Now he goes on with his life and she is gone. If he had died, very few people would of cared. She will be missed by us all.

WH was great talent with a strong voice, weak mind and poor choice in men. RIP

I heard the her daughter has a voice also as strong and good as her mother. I do hope she will use it to sing to the Lord and not the depraved people in Hollywood

He loved her soooooooooooooooooo much he turned her into a heroin, cocaine addict. Love is blind & horrible in this case. But Whitney went for him, so give her credit for being a great talent, but stupid human being.

she started on her downward spiral after starting her relationship with Bobby Brown.....amazing that she could have been that influenced by anyone.....he helped greatly in her demise
    • victoria  •  3 months ago
Let's see what happens to her daughter. Will she use this as an excuse for self destruction? Her only claim to fame is she is Whitney houstons daughter. But if she was already drinking and supposedly a picture of her snorting cocaine is out there, it is very obvious what kind of influence she took from her parents. The real
LOSS is Whitney, if something happens to her daughter, than that is just plain stupidity. Good luck to her and hope she finds her way. She is old enough.

Why was he even still at that concert? If I were him, I would have left IMMEDIATELY to be w/ my daughter....I wouldn't be on stage singing, no matter how teary-eyed I looked...Sheesh...

My mother passed away from drug abuse when I was 19, and my father is still alive and I believe that he played a part in her death in never stopping her and by leading her down that path. Just saddens me that the men survive but it's the talented and strong women who get sucked down. It hurts me still and I feel for her daughter. My prayers are with her and her family, but most importantly her daughter.

What happened to Whitney is happening everyday to millions of people because of THEIR CHOICE to be on drugs, granted they have not ruled that yet for her cause of death, and Whitney's music had a huge impact on my teen years, but this madness of prescription pills needs to be stopped!

I am not a hater I just feel he sure did not help the situation. He should have been a husband that supported her in her work, not support her with drugs. A beautiful voice has been silenced and that can not be changed. My thoughts go out to her daughter, who now has not mother, and may this be a lesson to all. You may clean up your act from drugs but the damage may already be done.
