Surprise! Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds got married on Sunday night at Boone Hall Plantation in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., according to People. The pair - who started dating in 2011 after starring together on "Green Lantern" - listened as Lively's pal, Florence Welch, performed three songs at the reception. A cake was reportedly driven down from Virginia for the event.
The "Gossip Girl" star and her Canadian hubby have been creating a life together in recent months with a new house in Bedford, New York, and frequent trips to Reynolds childhood home in Vancouver. However, there was no indication that they were engaged, let alone ready to marry.
Lively and Reynolds aren't the only celebs to pull off a top secret wedding in today's celeb-obsessed society.
Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford
"An Education" actress Carey Mulligan surprised fans when she married her fiance - and childhood pen pal - Marcus Mumford on April 21 on a farm in Somerset, England. The pair said their vows in front of celebrity pals including Sienna Miller, Colin Firth and Jake Gyllenhaal, according to US Weekly.
The wedding was a surprise, mostly because the couple never admitted their engagement, let alone wedding plans. The wedding happened pretty quickly, too: They only started dating in February 011.
"At the end of the night there were just the musicians, Jake, Carey, and the Mumford boys," a source said of their romantic encounter after a Mumford and Sons show in Tennessee. "We had some pizza, and just played music. Jake picked up a guitar and Carey joined in on 'Amazing Grace.' Marcus and Carey seemed really friendly."
Will they last? So far, so good!
Beyonce and Jay-Z might be a super popular couple, but they never talked about their 2008 wedding without some prodding.
"We've been together a long time," Beyonce told Essence in 2008. "We always knew it would happen."
However, they never wanted to make a big deal about their wedding because "It's been my day so many days already," she said. We'd say so - and we'd say their still going strong, thanks to their new daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.
"James Bond" heartthrob Daniel Craig disappointed his female fans when he secretly married Rachel Weisz in a secret ceremony in Upstate New York in June 2011. The pair were reportedly friends for years before getting together.
Married life hasn't really changed them, she told Marie Claire in July.
"We don't sit around talking about acting, but you both understand you've got to be flexible," she said. "Every few months you start a new job."
Her biggest challenge is being a good mother to her son with her ex, "Black Swan" director Darren Aronofsky.
"Like any job, there are days when you're just pulling your hair out," she said. The same as anyone who wants to be with their kid or husband. Every mother feels that don't they?"
We bet it's pretty cool to have James Bond as a step-dad, don't you think?
Do you think Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds will make their marriage last?
