LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Billy Ray Cyrus sent his best wishes to the Travolta family on Sunday following the tragic death of 16-year-old Jett at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on the Grand Bahama island.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with John and his family," Billy Ray told E! Online Sunday afternoon near the country star's LA home.

"They're great human beings and strong people. And, again, our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family," he added.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Jett is thought to have suffered a seizure and hit his head on the bathtub. An autopsy is planned for today to determine the exact cause of death.

The Travolta family posted a message on their Web site, Travolta.com, on Sunday, thanking well-wishers for their support following the death of their son, Jett, on Friday morning.

"We would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks to everyone who has sent their love and condolences," the note read.

"Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered. We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time we had with him for the rest of our lives.

"We have received many messages of condolence from around the world and we want to thank everyone for their prayers and support," the message continued. "It has meant so much to us. It is a beautiful reminder of the inherent goodness of the human spirit that gives us hope for a brighter future."

The message is signed John, Kelly and Ella - the Travoltas' 8-year-old daughter.

The family, which owns several beachfront units at the hotel, were on a holiday vacation.

When I first heard about Jett's death, I was totally shocked. He was the exact same age as me. It's great that Miley and Billy Ray sang at his memorial. Rest in peace, Jett.

Lindsay L you are a brainless wonder. How can you be so ignorant when this man just lost a child and his friend is trying to comfort him. Obviously you have never lost a loved one. Grow up or shut up.

Nobody - Maybe Billy Ray Cyrus is a friend of this family. Why the hell do you care about his concern and condolences for a grieving family? Get a life and try doing something good for someone else.

Condolences and prayers offered to the Travolta family for their loss. As a military man of 28 years service protecting the right to free speech, I see how some still find so much negativity to fill thier lives. Remember negative people will always attempt to bring others down to their level. These less fortunate need our prayers as well. God Bless the USA

It is evident that you have been brought up to find fault in everyone even when a professional curtesy is displayed. His friend's family member died and you find negative comments to write. Just remember to look into your mirror and pass judgement first where you see it need be. Our country is allowing your free speech as well as mine. Grow up & be optimistic not pesstimistic.
