Whether you're a celebrity or not, your child's first birthday is often celebrated in a big way. Still, doling out almost $100 grand on a diamond encrusted Barbie doll for a child who can barely keep her food down is nothing short of outrageous. Jay-Z and wife Beyonce didn't bat an eye when purchasing this gift, though.
According to The Sun, the doll was customized by baby Blue Ivy's parents and features roughly 160 gems and white gold jewelry.
The spending didn't stop at the doll, either. OK Magazine reports that the famous performers spent roughly $95,000 on pink and white roses, $30,000 on costumes, jewelry and toys for guests, and $2,400 on the cake. That brings the birthday party bill total up to nearly a quarter of a million dollars.
It's estimated that Blue Ivy has over 1.5 million dollars worth of toys -- all accumulated in a year's time.
Shocked at the money being thrown around? Jay-Z and Beyonce aren't the only ones who spend lavishly even amidst a struggling economy. Check out these other celebrity gifts that go above and beyond your standard gift-giving.
